Inkscape 0.46 Released!

Latest version of Inkscape 0.46 was released on April the 10th featuring fully integrated PDF support, improved performance and enhanced GUI along with an extensive tool set updates including new brush features, custom path repetition and online collaborative whiteboard support.

Inkscape is a open source vector art project comparable to other currently available commercial equivalents (Illustrator, CorelDraw, Xara X), using the W3C standard Scalable Vector Graphics file format (SVG).

ezQuake 1.9 Beta 2

The latest ezQuake beta build is now available for client download.

In this release we've fixed some serious issues from 1.9 Beta 1:
- loading of some of the files: levelshots, loc files, progs (creating single player / multiplayer games) and hud icons
- qwd demos parsing (cl_messages fixing)
- scr_drawVFrags works again

And new features:
- allow models (bmodels alredy support this) use _luma textures
- new defaults for QTV playback
- small changes in the in-game menu

Metal Gear Online European beta - 17th of April

News in that Metal Gear Online Premiere Beta will be moving into Europe April the 17th for the PlayStation 3 as a free download from the PLAYSTATION® Store. (12:00 CEST) until May the 6th (10:00 CEST).

According to the Kojma Productions website the beta phase will be featuring two maps, four gameplay modes, deep skill customization, and the SOP System that to encourage upto 16 players to to team up & share information. Also available will be auto matching and training modes.

Modo 302 - free upgrade

Luxology has just released their highly anticipated free upgrade to Modo (302) available for download too all existing 301 owners. Featuring an extensive range of improvements, bug fixes and the new developer's SDK.

  • feature > Implemented Physical Sky and Physical Sun rendering options. Sun position is based on its time and place channel values (sun position defaults to Luxology world headquarters). A custom luminal function allows sunlight to use solar intensity and color from Physical Sky model when sun position is enabled. The size of solar disc (when viewing the sun itself) is adjustable. Sky haze can be set. A “north” channel is provided to change orientation of physical world in relation
    to physical sun.
  • feature > modo is now location aware. Locate your model’s locations in latitude-longitude and modo will use this plus your timezone/day/time of day for automatic calculations of sun position.
  • feature > A new modo File I/O SDK is available to facilitate reading and writing of data to/from modo. Source code samples for loaders and savers are provided for developers.

Torque Game Engine 1.7.0 Released!

News from GarageGames, just released their latest version incarnation of the Torque Advanced Game Engine (TGEA) as a free upgrade to all indie or commercial owners.

Featuring new additions such as integrated ODE core for better geometry collision (polysoup), mega terrain support, ground cover system, new SFX sound system and a range of improvements & bug fixes.

Some of the new features & code have been carried over from their upcoming Legions development title, along with heavy redesign of their general Torque SDK to incorporate a more modular design as found with their latest TorqueX 2.0 XNA based engine.

Grome Modeler Version 1.2 Released!

The people over at Quad Software have just released the new Grome 1.2 upgrade for the professional & standard edition - Boasting a hefty range of new features, improvements & bug fixes.

Additions:
1. Massive speed improvements (up to 10 times faster) due to internal optimizations at various tools: fractal tools (mountains, dunes, hills, fractal noise), shadowmap generation.
2. Added a new tools: fractal hills, mountains, dunes and noise brushes.
3. Introduced new Grome scripting language to automate tasks.
