Yggdrasill
The World Tree
Geography
An enormous tree similar in appearance to an English Oak, with white bark and deep orange leaves, it bears all of the nine Realms on its branches. At its roots lies a crystal clear lake from which it siphons the water it needs to live, and it gathers nutrients from the soil beneath it. Without proper nourishment, the tree will wilt and all of the nine Realms with it. The tree faintly glows and is illuminated by the constant glow of the infinite void which surrounds it. Right in the middle of its branches lies a small village of Bifröst connecting all of the Realms via Bifröst portals.
Ecosystem
Yggdrasill itself is dependant on Urðarbrunnr, Hvergelmir and Mímisbrunnr, springs found beneath its roots. At the Urðarbrunnr’s shore live three Norns; Urðr, Verðandi, and Skuld. These Norns decide the fate of every living being within the nine Realms. Hvergelmir is located beneath a root in Niflheim, and Mímisbrunnr is located beneath a root near the home of jötnar.
Ecosystem Cycles
Yggdrasill passes through the four season. In Spring and Summer, its leaves are a deep orange and at this time, small parts of the tree seen in the Realms bear fruit of Enchanted Golden Apples which can be picked up by travelers. In Autumn the leaves start to wither and turn to a bluish hue. In Winter months Yggdrasill’s leaves start to fall of and the tree is left barren until Spring.
Climate
There can be ocasional rain during Spring, heavy rain in Summer and Autumn and snow in Winter. The Realms reflect the climate of the tree. The climate is not exactly the same in every realm, but its the equivelant of what’s going on in Yggdrasill.
Natural Resources
Taking parts of Yggdrasill is prohibited for all beings, but the wood could be used to craft durable and magic infused handles.
History
It has existed before time itself and nobody but itself knows how it came into existence. It was made by the Creators and was made to connect the different worlds made by them.
